Dillon Chardonnay 2006

Run by siblings Terry & Michelle Dillon, Dillon Vineyards is a small vineyard, located in the Yountville Appellation, south of the town of Yountville on the floor of the Napa Valley. This unique location has an exceptionally delicate micro climate for growing Chardonnay grapes.
During the growing season, the vineyard is cooled by the gentle breezes coming off the San Pablo Bay which gives this area a cooler temperature and higher humidity than other parts of the Napa Valley. The cooler temperature allows for an extended growing season and optimizes the Chardonnay's varietal character.
The soil under the vineyard is a rich alluvial soil with the elements necessary to maintain the vines with balanced growth.
There were less than 400 cases of the 2006 vintage produced. This offering is the "Oaked" fermentation version of their wine.
Tasting Notes: This French Oak Chardonnay has a rich golden color with well-balanced acidity and flavor notes of pineapple, peach and ripe pear. The oak influences are sweet, upfront but well-proportioned to the size of the Chardonnay fruit. This is a luscious Chardonnay made from grapes of the Yountville Appellation.
Vinification: Our Barrel Fermented Chardonnay is fermented in tight grained, medium toast French Burgundy barrels with a 50/50 blend of French Oak from the Allier and Vosges Forests. This wine was aged sur lies for ten months and went through an additional secondary malolactic fermentation. The wine received an additional ten months bottle aging prior to release.
